To a suspension of 2-(methylthio)-4-(1-phenylcyclopropylamino)pyrimidine-5-carboxamide (636 mg) in AcCN (3 mL) was added AcOOH (39% in AcOH, 0.7 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 h, and the solids were collected by filtration and dried in vacuo to give 2-(methylsulfinyl)-4-(1-phenylcyclopropylamino) pyrimidine-5-carboxamide (530 mg). MS 317.2 (M+H).
