5-{1′-tert-butoxycarbonyl-4-oxospiro[chroman-2,4′-piperidin]-6-yl}nicotinamide (1.30 g) was suspended in dioxane (10 ml) and 4N HCl in dioxane (20 ml) was added thereto, and stirred at room temperature for 18 h. The resulted precipitate was filtered, washed with dioxane and Et2O to obtain the intended compound as a colorless solid.
