To a solution of cis-tert-butyl 2-methyl-4-(1-(4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-4-yloxy)piperidine-1-carboxylate (98.9 mg, 0.214 mmol) in MeOH (1.0 mL) at 0° C. was added hydrochloric acid (2.0 mL, 8.00 mmol, 4.0 M in dioxane, Aldrich). The reaction mixture was warmed up to room temperature and continuously stirred at room temperature. After stirring for 1.5 hrs, the mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (114.5 mg) as an off-white solid. This material was used in the next step without further purification. MS (ESI) 363 (M+H).
