Procedure
To a stirred solution of [3,5-Diethyl-4-(7-methoxy-6-methyl-indan-4-ylmethyl)-pyrazol-1-yl]-acetic acid ethyl ester of step-III (9.0 gm, 0.0234 mole) in Tetrahydrofuran (40 ml) and Methanol (20 ml), a solution of Sodium hydroxide (1.87 gm, 0.0468 mole) in water (75 ml) was added at 20-30° C. and stirred for 1.5-2 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into water (50 ml) and extracted with Ethyl acetate (2×200 ml). The residual aqueous layer was acidified with dilute Hydrochloric acid. The separated solid was filtered, washed well with water (50 ml) and dried under vacuum at 60-65° C. to yield desired product as off white solid. (6.3 gm).
