Reaction Steps

N-(4-Bromomethyl-3-tert-butylsulfanylmethyl-phenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-propionamide (1.8 g, 4.8 mmol) in DMSO (40 mL) was treated with potassium cyanide (0.325 g, 5.0 mmol), and the reaction was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The mixture was worked-up and purified by silica gel chromatography to give the title compound.
