Compound 39 (120 mg, 0.217 mmol) was dissolved in 5 mL of CH2Cl2 and 2.5 mL of TFA (containing 6% H2O) was added. The mixture was stirred for 30 min at room temperature and was then concentrated in vacuo to give the product 40 that was used as such in the next step. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 2.29 (m, 2H), 2.64 (m, 2H), 2.86 (m, 1H), 4.04 (bs, 2H), 4.16 (d, J=5.3 Hz, 2H), 4.60 (m, 8H), 4.74 (s, 2H), 5.23-5.27 (m, 4H), 5.35-5.40 (m, 4H), 5.90-6.00 (m, 4H), 9.58 (s, 1H).
