In analogy to the procedure described in example 14 b], [rac]-2-ethoxy-3-(4-hydroxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphthalen-1-yl)-propionic acid methyl ester (example 2 c]) was reacted with 5-chloromethyl-4-methyl-2-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-thiazole [PCT Int. Appl. (2001), WO 01/00603 A1] in N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of cesium carbonate to give [rac]-2-ethoxy-3-{4-[4-methyl-2-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-thiazol-5-ylmethoxy]-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphthalen-1-yl}-propionic acid methyl ester, which was further saponified in analogy to the procedure described in example 1 e], to yield [rac]-2-ethoxy-3-{4-[4-methyl-2-(4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-thiazol-5-ylmethoxy]-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphthalen-1-yl}-propionic acid as colorless solid.
