A suspension of methyl[6-chloro-2-[4-chloropyridine-2-carbonyl]-1H-indol-3-yl]acetate (Example 33, 195 mg, 0.537 mmol) in ethanol (20 ml) and 2N sodium hydroxide (4 ml) was heated for 1 h at 50° C. After cooling to room temperature, 2N hydrochloric acid (4 ml) was added and the mixture was concentrated. The residue was diluted in ethyl acetate (100 ml), washed with water (50 ml×2), and dried (MgSO4). After removal of solvent, the crystalline residue was recrystallized from ethyl acetate to afford 175 mg (94%) of the title compound.
