The title compound was prepared according to the procedure described in step 2 of Example 8 (Method A) from methyl trans-5-chloro-2-(phenylsulfonylamino)cinnamate (Example 36, step 3) and 2-bromoacetylthiazole hydrobromide (A. Dondoni, A. Marra, and P. Merino, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 1994, 116, 3324).
