A stirred solution of methyl[5-chloro-2-(4-ethyl-3-fluoropyridine-2-carbonyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]acetate (Example 111, 391.2 mg, 1.044 mmol) in acetic acid (12 ml) and 2N aqueous HCl (4 ml) was heated at reflux temperature for 24 h. After cooling to room temperature, the resulting mixture was concentrated. The residue was diluted in THF (100 ml), dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The crude product was purified by recrystallization to afford 349.2 mg (93%) of the title compound.
