Procedure

A mixture of methyl[5-chloro-2-(4-methyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole-5-carbonyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]acetate (Example 228, 190 mg, 0.54 mmol), 2N aqueous HCl (4 ml), and acetic acid (20 ml) was heated at reflux temperature for 2 h. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was concentrated. The crystalline residue was diluted with THF (100 ml) and dried (MgSO4) and concentrated. The residual solids were washed with ethyl acetate gave 145 mg (79%) of the title compound as yellow solids.
