This reaction was performed with tris(8-formyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylbenzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis-(1,3)dioxole-4-yl)methane (0.050 g, 0.066 mmol (Example 23)), and Na2S2O5 (0.285 g, 1.5 mmol) analogous to the formation of the bisulfite adduct of tris(8-formyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylbenzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis-(1,3)dioxole-4-yl)methyl radical as detailed above in Example 88, yielding 0.140 g (the theoretical yield is 0.070 g) of crystals containing NaHSO3.
