The title compound was prepared following the procedure described for Intermediate 1, step 2, but starting from 7-methyl-1H-benzimidazole-5-carbonitrile obtained in step 2 (900 mg; 5.73 mmol) as a beige solid (985 mg, 90%). 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 12.60 (br s, 1H), 9.46 (s, 1H), 8.29-7.57 (m, 3H), 5.76 (s, 2H), 2.51 (m, 3H). LC/MS (Method B): 191.1 (M+H)+.
