10.1 g of N-(4,6-dihydroxy-2-methylsulfanyl-pyrimidin-5-yl)-4-methoxy-3,5-dimethyl-benzamide in 55 ml of phosphorus oxychloride were heated to 60° C. for 3 h. After cooling, the resulting solid was collected by filtration with suction and washed with methyl tert-butyl ether. The solid was then dissolved in a mixture of dichloromethane and tetrahydrofuran, washed with a saturated aqueous sodium hydrogencarbonate solution, dried and concentrated in vacuo. 5.9 g of the title compound were obtained.
