Procedure

A mixture of 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (6.5 g, 40 mmol) and 2-(4-morpholinyl)-1-ethanol (5.0 g, 38.1 mmol) in DCM (200 mL) was stirred for 22 h at rt. Ether (400 mL) was added and the mixture was washed with water. The water layer was then extracted with DCM. The combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated to give 6.0 g (70%) of the tide compound.
