Part C: A solution of 1.64 g (4.64 mmol) of 5-amino-4-cyano-3-ethyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-carboethoxyphenyl)-pyrazole in 8 mL conc. H2SO4 was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The reaction was quenched carefully with ice and diluted with water. The solid was collected by suction filtration, washed with water and dried to give 1.26 g (73%) of 5-amino-3-ethyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-carboethoxyphenyl)pyrazole-4-carboxamide, mp 194-196° C. Mass Spec.: (CI+) 371 (M+).
