FIG. 21 shows the method of synthesis of 2,5-diamino-6H-thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidin-7-one 14. 2,6-diamino-3H-pyrimidin-4-one 1 was reacted with Br2 in the presence of sodium acetate and acetic acid to produce 2,6-diamino-5-bromopyrimidin-4-one 13. 2,6-diamino-5-bromopyrimidin-4-one 13 was then reacted with CN2SH4 in ethanol to produce 2,5-diamino-6H-thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidin-7-one 14.
