Procedure
1.8 g of 2-[(2-oxiranyl)methoxy]-N-(1H-indol-4-yl)-benzamide in 36 ml of ethanol and 6.5 ml of N-methyl piperazine was refluxed for 1 hour and the solvents were eliminated under reduced pressure. The residue was chromatographed over silica (eluent: chloroform-ethanol, 9-1) to obtain 1.77 g of 2-[3-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-2-hydroxypropoxy]-N-(1H-indol-4-yl)-benzamide.
