A mixture of 1-benzyl-4-(ethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl)-4-(N-phenylpropionamido)piperidine (8.20 g, 19.6 mmol) and 10% palladium on charcoal (2.0 g) in methanol (100 ml) was reacted with hydrogen (50 psi) in a Parr shaker. After 24 hours, the resulting mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. A foamy residue (6.42 g, 19.5 mmol) was obtained. It was used for reactions without further purification. ##STR32##
