1-[2-(2-Chloro-benzylamino)-pyrido[4,3-d]pyrimidin-5-yl]-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester 13 (583 mg, 1.37 mmol) was dissolved in THF (10 mL), 2 N NaOH solution (5 mL) were added and the mixture was stirred for 3 h at 50° C. The mixture was evaporated to dryness, water was added and the pH was adjusted to 7 adding 2 N HCl solution. The aqueous layer was extracted twice with ethyl acetate and DCM. The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and evaporated to dryness. The obtained colorless solid (447 mg, 1.12 mmol, 82%) was used without further purification.
