To a solution of 5-methoxy-1H-pyrazol-3-amine (890 mg, 7.8 mmol) in absolute EtOH (20 ml) was added triethylamine (3.3 ml, 23.6 mmol) and 2,4,5-trichloropyrimidine (1.4 g, 7.8 mmol) and the resulting solution was aged at room temperature for 12 hours. The mixture was partitioned between EtOAc and H2O, the organic layer was washed with brine and dried. The solvents were removed under reduced pressure to give the title compound as an oil which crystallized upon standing (1.8 g). m/z: 261.
