0.87 of 2-bromo-2-(3-thenoyl)propane was dissolved in 5 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide, then 0.44 g of sodium azide was added thereto and reacted at 70° C. for 1 hour. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was allowed to cool and put into 200 ml of water, and then extracted with ethyl ether. The organic layer was washed with water, then dried over magnesium sulfate, followed by concentration to obtain 0.70 g of 2-azido-2-(3-thenoyl)propane.
