The air is purged from a solution of 5b (155.9 mg, 0.266 mmol) and 6b (132.6 mg, 0.346 mmol) in 1.2 mL of toluene/Et3N (5/1) by argon bubbling for 20 min. Then, CuI (1.0 mg, 0.005 mmol) and Pd(PPh3)2Cl2 (3.7 mg, 0.005 mmol) are added, and the mixture is agitated at 40° C. for 16 h. The solvent is evaporated under reduced pressure, and the raw product is purified by chromatography in a silica gel column (heptane/CH2Cl2 70:30 then 20:80) to yield 127.9 mg (57%) of 1.
