Procedure

A round bottom flask was charged with (R)-2-(5-(2-cycloheptylacetamido)-6-methyl-1-oxoisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)propyl acetate (180.0 mg, 0.0004363 mol), potassium carbonate (180 mg, 0.0013 mol), methanol (15 mL, 0.37 mol) and few drops of water. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and water was added to the residue and extracted with (chloroform:IPA, 3:1) and the solvent removed under reduced pressure and the residue purified by reverse phase prep BPLC to afford the product as a white solid.
