4-{2-[2-fluoro-5-(methyloxy)-4-nitrophenyl]ethyl}morpholine (0.4 g, 1.4 mmol) was placed in a 100 mL high pressure vessel and dissolved in 30 mL of EtOAc. 5 wt % Platinum(sulfided)/carbon (0.274 g, 0.07 mmol) was added followed quickly by a rubber septum. The flask was evacuated and filled with N2 six times to remove any oxygen. The vessel was then pressurized with H2 (50 psi). The solution stirred overnight. The next morning the vessel was evacuated and filled with N2 six times to remove any hydrogen. The solution was filtered through celite and evaporated to give the title compound of step B (0.2 g, 0.79, 56%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 6.69 (d, J=6.97 Hz, 1H), 6.40 (d, J=11.36 Hz, 1H), 4.97 (bs, 2H), 3.86-3.98 (m, 2H), 3.78-3.86 (m, 2H), 3.72 (s, 3H), 3.38-3.49 (m, 2H), 3.10-3.21 (m, 2H), 2.99-3.10 (m, 2H), 2.86-2.97 (m, 2H).
