C-(6-Benzenesulfonyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-1-yl)-methylamine (1.0 g, 3.5 mmol), 1H-pyrazol-1-carboxamidine hydrochloride (0.5 g, 3.5 mmol) and 1.2 mL of diethyl isopropylamine (7.0 mmol) were dissolved in 10 mL of DMF. The reaction mixture was heated to 100° C. for three hours and then cooled and diluted by addition of 75 mL of water. The aqueous mixture was extracted twice with 100 mL of EtOAc, and the combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the resulting oil was purified by medium pressure chromatography (silica gel, MeOH/CHCl3/NH4OH 10:89:1) to yield 0.4 g (1.16 mmol, 33%) of N-(6-benzenesulfonyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-naphthalen-1-ylmethyl)-guanidine, MS: 344 (M+H)+.
