A similar procedure as described in Example 1, step 3 was used, starting from 4-[3-{6-[3,5-bis-(2-fluoro-pyridin-4-yl)-phenoxy]-hexyl}-2-(2-ethoxycarbonyl-ethyl)-phenoxy]-butyric acid ethyl ester (220 mg, 0.32 mmol) and 1.0 N aqueous NaOH (10 mL) to afford 4-[3-{6-[3,5-bis-(2-fluoro-pyridin-4-yl)-phenoxy]-hexyl}-2-(2-carboxy-ethyl)-phenoxy]-butyric acid (110 mg, 56%) as an amorphous white solid: ES(+)-HRMS m/e calculated for C35H36F2N2O6 (M+H)+ 619.2614, found 619.2615.
