To the solution of 5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-(1,3-dithiolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carbonitrile-ethoxyethylene (1:1) (0.30 g, 0.6 mmol) in ethanol (40 mL) at 5 C was added sodium borohydride (74 mg, 1.9 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for five hrs and then diluted with water and ethyl acetate. The layers were separated and the organic layer was washed with saturated sodium chloride, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated to afford a yellowish oil (0.27 g, 0.6 mmol); 19-F-NMR: −63.704.
