To a stirred solution of 1-bromo-6-(trimethylsilyl)hex-5-yn-2-one (2.50 g, 10.11 mmol) in EtOH (8 mL) was added potassium carbonate (350 mg, 2.53 mmol) and 5-fluoropyridin-2-amine (567 mg, 5.06 mmol). The mixture was heated at 80° C. overnight. The mixture was concentrated, the residue was dissolved in EtOAc, and the organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude residue was purified over silicagel chromatography (prepacked 70 g silicagel column, from DCM/MeOH: 100/0 to 96/4 as eluent) to afford 400 mg of 6-fluoro-2-(4-(trimethylsilyl)but-3-ynyl)-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine (Yield: 30%) as an orange-brown solid.
