A mixture of N′-(6-oxo-7-phenyl-5,6-dihydro-1,5-naphthyridin-2-yl)propanohydrazide (7-3) (70 mg, 0.227 mmol) in AcOH (5 mL) was heated under microwave irradiation at 180° C. for 15 minutes. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give 1-ethyl-8-phenyl[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]-1,5-naphthyridin-7(6H)-one (7-4) as pale yellow solid.
