(E)-2-cyano-N-(4-methoxymethoxyphenethyl)-3-(3-pyridyl)-2-propenoic acid amide (0.81 g, 2.4 mmol) obtained in Example 1 was dissolved in a mixed solution of methanol (10 ml) and ethanol (10 ml) and concentrated hydrochloric acid (0.3 ml) was added and stirred for 3 days. The precipitated crystal was filtered and washed with ether to yield the titled compound (0.57 g, 72%).
