To a stirred solution of (R)-1-benzyl-3-pyrrolidinol (1.77 g, 10 mmol) in pyridine(30 ml) was added p-toluenesulfonyl chloride (9.53 g, 50 mmol) by portions at 0° C. After 90 h stirring at room temperature, water was added to the reaction mixture and the mixture was extracted with ether (150 ml). The extract was washed with water, brine, dried(Na2SO4), and concentrated to give 3.06 g (92%) of brown oil.
