2-Amino-3-(4-phenylbenzoyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno(2,3-c)pyridine was reacted with benzyloxycarbonyl chloride and triethylamine to afford the title compound as a solid (mp 83-85° C.). 1H NMR (CDCl3) 2.05 (m, 2H); 3.45 (m, 2H); 4.46 (s, 2H); 5.15 (s, 2H); 6.72 (bs, 2H) 7.35-7.66 (m, 14H)
