A solution of 1-benzyl-N-(3,4-difluorobenzyl)-2-isopropyl-5-methoxy-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine-3-carboxamide (Compound 9, 7.0 mg, 0.016 mmol) in HBr (48%, 0.5 ml) and HOAc (1.0 ml) was heated to 120° C. for 5 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC) on silica gel (10% MeOH—CH2Cl2) to yield the title compound.
