Procedure
Twenty-two (22) ml. of a benzene solution containing 5.5 g. of 2-p-chlorophenyl oxazolidine was mixed with 25 ml. of benzene and 3.1 g. of triethylamine and stirred at room temperature, while 4.4 g. of dichloroacetyl chloride was added dropwise. The mixture was allowed to stand for about 30 minutes, washed with water, separated, dried over magnesium sulfate and then stripped. There was obtained a yield of 8.4 g. of an oil, the title compound, ND30 =1.5668.
