To a solution of 3-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline-8-thiocarboxamide (13 g.) in hot isopropyl alcohol (130ml.) was added a solution of 9.5 g. tartaric acid in hot isopropyl alcohol (65 ml.). The solution was filtered and allowed to cool. The precipitated crystals of the tartrate were removed by filtration, washed with a little cold isopropyl alcohol and dried. Yield 10.2 g, m.p. 158°-160° C., Found: C, 50.56% H, 5.67%; N, 7.90%. Calc. for C15H20N2O6S: C, 50.55% H, 5.65%; N, 7.86%.
