A solution of 10.0 g of 1-benzyl-4-phenyl-4-(p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)piperidine and 4.1 g of phenylchloroformate in 100 ml. of toluene was refluxed for 17 hours. The toluene was removed under reduced pressure to give a colorless oil which when rubbed with a glass rod in the presence of hexane gave a white solid of 1-phenoxycarbonyl-4-phenyl-4-(p-trifluoromethylphenoxy)piperidine.
