A mixture of 2-(1-hydroxy-4-(N,N-dimethylamino)butyl)-5-thiazole sulfonamide (0.35 mmol, 0.098 g) and MnO2 (5.27 mmol, 0.46 g) in THF was stirred at rt overnight. The mixture was filtered through celite and the solvent removed. The residue was subjected to flash chromatography (10% MeOH/NH3 /CHCl3) to afford 34.4 mg (35%) of 2-(1-keto-4-(N,N-dimethylamino)butyl)-5-thiazole sulfonamide.
