33 g (0.2 mole) of 2-chloromethylbenzoxazole and 32.8 g of sodium benzene sulfonate were dissolved in 200 ml of DMF, heated within one-half hour to 70° C., for 1 hour at 70° C., for 1 hour to 80° C. and for 1 hour to 90° C., and after cooling, allowed to flow into 300 ml of H2O, while stirring well. The reaction mixture was filtered with suction, washed well with H2O and dried. 48.8 g (98.4 % of the theory) were obtained. After recrystallization from ethanol, 41 g of colorless cristals melting at 108° to 109° C. were obtained. ##STR28##
