To a solution of the product obtained in Step I (0.09 g) in THF (3.8 ml) there is added activated MnO2 (0.315 g). After stirring for 20 hours at ambient temperature, the mixture is filtered and the filtrate is evaporated to dryness to yield the title product, which is used directly in the next step.
