Procedure

To a 50 mL round-bottomed flask was added N-(4-fluorophenyl)-N-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-1H-imidazole-1-carboxamide (91 mg, 346 μmol, from step 2), acetonitrile (2 mL), methyl iodide (86 μL, 1383 μmol, Aldrich). The solution was stirred at RT for 24 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo to give the product, which was used for the next step reaction without purification.
