Procedure
To a mixture of (5-bromo-3-methoxy-pyridin-2-yl)-methanol (Stage 194.1.3, 2.79 mmol) and triethylamine (4.18 mmol) in dichloromethane was added slowly acetyl chloride (3.35 mmol) and the RM was stirred for 1 h at rt. The RM was diluted with dichloromethane, washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3, with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated. The residue was absorbed on silica gel and purified by flash chromatography (heptane/EtOAc 0% to 60%). The fractions containing product were evaporated together to give the title compound as a white solid. (HPLC: tR 2.72 min (Method A); M+H=260, 262 MS-ES)
