A solution of 2-(4-tert-butylphenyl)cyclopropanecarbohydrazide (200 mg, 0.86 mmol) and 1-(isoquinolin-5-yl)ethanone (147 mg, 0.86 mmol) in 1,2-dichloroethane (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture was then diluted with water (5 mL) and the organic layer was separated, washed brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude material was purified via silica gel column chromatography to afford (E)-2-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-N′-(1-(isoquinolin-5-yl)ethylidene)cyclopropanecarbohydrazide (150 mg, 45%) as an off-white solid.
