A solution of 2,6-dichloro-4-(dimethylcarbamoyl)benzoic acid (65 mg, 0.21 mmol) in SOCl2 (3 mL) was heated to reflux for overnight and then cooled to room temperature. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to give crude 2,6-dichloro-4-(dimethylcarbamoyl)benzoyl chloride (70 mg, yield: 100%), which was used in the next step without further purification.
