To a solution of 2-(3-(allyloxycarbonyl)phenylamino)-2-phenylacetic acid (I3) (2.69 g, 8.64 mmol) in dry THF (80 ml), were added DCC (3.57 g, 17.3 mmol) and HOBt (2.65 g, 17.3 mmol). After 30 minutes, (R)-quinuclidin-3-ol (3.30 g, 25.9 mmol) was added and reaction was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the crude residue was purified by flash-chromatography (DCM/MeOH=97/3+0.3% NH4OH) to obtain allyl 3-(2-oxo-1-phenyl-2-((R)-quinuclidin-3-yloxy)ethylamino)benzoate (2.40 g, 66.1% yield).
