A mixture of (S)-1-((R)-2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]dioxine-2-carbonyl)-3-methylpiperidine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (27.7 g, 83.1 mmol) and THF (150 ml) was added to a cooled (0° C.) mixture of dry THF (150 ml) and LiAlH4 (10 g, 264 mmol). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 2 h, after which it was cooled to RT and water was added. The mixture was extracted twice with EtOAc and dried with Na2SO4. Solvent was evaporated to give 21.93 g of the title compound.
