A solution of tert-butyl 2-(6-amino-1H-indol-1-yl)acetate (intermediate A—for synthesis see above) (1.7368 mmol, 1.1 equiv.) in DCM (3 ml) was added at 0° C. to tert-butyl 2-formyl-5-methyl-1H-pyrrole-1-carboxylate (1.5789 mmol, 1.0 equiv.), dissolved in DCM (12 ml), and the mixture was stirred for 30 min at 25° C. At 0° C., Na(OAc)3BH (4.7368 mmol, 3.0 equiv.) was added in portions, and then the mixture was stirred for 12 h at 25° C. The reaction mixture was diluted with DCM (100 ml), washed with water and sat. NaCl solution (in each case 2×50 ml), dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (5% ethyl acetate in hexane). Yield: 58%
