Procedure

A solution of 6-methoxy-4-(2-methylindol-5-yloxy)-7-(2-(N-methyl-N-tert-butoxycarbonylamino)ethoxy)quinazoline (550 mg, 1.15 mmol), (prepared as described in Example 149), in methylene chloride (10 ml) containing TFA (12 ml) was stirred for 3 hours at ambient temperature. After removal of the volatiles under vacuum, the residue was partitioned between methylene chloride and sodium hydrogen carbonate. The pH of the aqueous layer was adjusted to 11 with 2N sodium hydroxide. The organic layer was separated, washed with water, brine, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. The residue was triturated with ether, filtered and dried under vacuum to give 6-methoxy-4-(2-methylindol-5-yloxy)-7-(2-(N-methylamino)ethoxy)quinazoline (356 mg, 82%).
