Methyl 8-(benzyloxy)-5-(6-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)hexylamino)-1,6-naphthyridine-7-carboxylate (Example 1.1; 0.58 g; 1.08 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of water (2 ml) and methanol (2 ml). NaOH (100 mg; 2.7 mmol) was added at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. H2O and HCl 2 N were added until pH=4-5 was reached. The mixture was extracted with EtOAc (2×). The organic layer was separated, dried (MgSO4), filtered and the solvent was evaporated.
