A solution of 4-bromo-2-(4,4-dimethyl-cyclohex-1-enyl)-phenylamine (as prepared in Example 1, step (a), 3.0 g, 10 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (20 mL) was heated at reflux under Ar for 48 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was purified on silica gel (5-20% EtOAc/hexane) to obtain the title compound (2.6 g, 73%). 1H-NMR (CDCl3; 400 MHz): δ 7.36 (s, 1H), 7.23-7.21 (m, 2H), 6.65 (d, 1H, J=8.0 Hz), 5.64 (m, 1H), 2.97 (s, 6H), 2.37 (m, 2H), 1.95 (m, 2H), 1.44 (m, 2H), 0.99 (s, 6H).
